# Fund a cross

> Fund a prepared ScripX cross: the explicit, gated money step that moves the buyer funds into settlement, distinct from preparing and from releasing the deal.

The money step. Funding a prepared cross moves the buyer's funds into settlement. Requires the `orders:write` scope.

This is deliberately a separate call from [prepare](/api-reference/cross/create): booking a deal and moving money are different decisions, and the API keeps them apart. An RFQ cross must be accepted by the counterparty before it can be funded.

### Errors

* `409 conflict`, the cross is not in a fundable state (unaccepted RFQ, already funded, or terminal).
* `404 not_found`, no such cross on your desk.
